Start your own studio!
It has never been so easy as it is now, all it requires is a desire, and we can
help make all the rest happen!
What do you need to get started?
A Teacher - YOU!
You posses all you need to be a teacher with your desire to teach, your
ability to learn, and your ability to work hard!
A Place to teach
This can be anywhere. No one ever said that a successful studio had to have
a perfect, new, spotless studio. Any place will do. (You would be surprised
to see how many of the best dancers and teams in the world practice in less
than perfect studios.
- Find a location that you can afford
- An unfinished basement (lots of room and plenty of
space to dance)
- Your garage is a great place to start - it's free,
has lots of room, and can be fixed up to look like you want
- Rent time from an existing studio. Most studios
have down time (hours when no one is teaching). Ask when it is and if you
can rent it!
- A warehouse/rental location - You don't have to get
a "main street" location and pay the high rent. Any place will do!
Students
Start with those you know - ask your friends, family, younger siblings and
their friends.
Start with just a few. You only need three (including yourself) to become a
team. As you continue to teach, your students will tell their friends, and
it will grow.
Don't be discouraged if it takes a short time to grow, continue to have fun,
and word will spread of your fun studio.
Sound system
You don't need the latest speed changing variable speed multi disc holding
sound system. A simply CD player will do. You don't need speed change
either. We will help you with that (see below)
THAT'S ALL YOU NEED! LET
US HELP YOU WITH THE REST!
America On Stage can help provide you with everything else you need.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Start with the All-Around Solo program. In just one packet, you will get 30
pre-choreographed solos that you can teach the day you get them! 5 solos in
each of the 6 levels from novice to professional, you could spend the entire
year teaching All-Around Solos and never get done. When you are ready, put
steps together to a song you like and instantly a dance is born!
You don't have to make up all new formations, arm movements, new steps, just
take the Al-Around Solos and you instantly have all the latest steps and
styles. Instant teacher!
PLACES TO DANCE
Start out at America On Stage competitions! We offer 6 levels of
competition, so you will not have to compete against those that have been
dancing for years. Compete against dancers who have been dancing just a long
as you have! And with our unique awards system, you and each student of
yours will instantly be awarded for their hard work. Competition is fun and
this is one of the best ways to get going.
What to compete? All-Around Solos! Begin there and when you are ready, add
freestyle, teams, duets and anything else you want. Register online at
www.americaonstage.org and you
are instantly a director.

MUSIC
With All-Around Solos, we provide the music for you. 5 different songs at
both normal and slow speed (so you don't need a sound system with variable
speed). Once you feel comfortable with what you are doing, find a fun
song you like and put your new steps you learned form the All-Around Solos
together. Instant dance!
SHOES & COSTUMES

It's so easy and they do it all!
NEW CHOREOGRAPHY
Want to have another top director come and choreograph a dance just for you?
Start out with our National Dance Faculty. They include all our Solo
committee. Simply contact them (by
clicking here) and they will come to your studio, choreograph a dance
for your teams, help teach the new solos, and make your teams shine with
their expert advice. It's that easy!
FLOOR
You don't need to go out and spend thousands on a new floor. Many use plywood
on cement (however a lot of dancing on it can hurt your knees.) Make it easy
and get a floor that will last, and is very durable. America On Stage has
purchased several thousand feet of black Duc-tile (like what is used to
dance on at Lagoon, St. George, and other competitions). This Duc-Tile is
available for you at its original cost of $2.50/ square foot! Simply contact
Bryan Steele (801) 446-0192 and he will let you know how do get it! Other
floor options include simply dancing on cement floor (this is alright, but
don't dance many hours as it can eventually make your knees hurt). Laying
plywood down (better than cement), or finding a floor that will hold up
under clogging's stress.
DIRECTOR'S TIPS AND
HELP
Come join us at the Director's Retreat every fall that is held in
conjunction with Autumnfest. We spend time with each director teaching how
to teach better, what has worked with other studios, new choreography, and
you will also get to know everybody. Watch
