RME is owned, directed and taught by Greg and Maria Tucker. We
have won over 20 National Clogging Championships in individuals, duets and
teams. We are both members of the Clogging Hall of Fame and have been dancing
and clogging for over 25 years each. We both began teaching in the 1980's and
eventually started our own studio called Rocky Mountain Express in 1998. We have
toured and competed all over the world! Each year it gets better and better!
September Beginning Classes
NEW SEPTEMBER BEGINNING CLASS! Ages 6-12
Our Beginning class starting in September will be Thursdays from
6:00-6:45 pm.
It costs just $35/month, and the class will perform at least 4 times throughout
the year. We get costumes for each team class which usually cost between $35 and
$70, and the dancers will use these costumes throughout the year. We even use
them sometimes for two years in a row, so keep them looking nice. Each dancer is
required to purchase a RME T-shirt and clogging shoes. (refer to clogging shoes
below).

Our Minis Beginning class (Happy Feet!) starting in September will be
Thursdays from
3:30-4:00 pm. It costs just $30/month, and the class will perform at least 4
times throughout the year. We get costumes for the class which usually cost
between $35 and $70, and the dancers will use these costumes throughout the
year. We even use them sometimes for two years in a row, so keep them looking
nice. Each dancer is required to purchase a RME T-shirt and clogging shoes.

We also will start a 2nd class for ages 6-12 as the first fills up that will
start at 6:45-7:30 pm on Thursday night. We have an option to hold a class on

We will start off the year with an open house to allow you to come see the
studio, meet your teacher, meet Greg and Maria, and get everything you need
including shoes, shirts, and get measured for costumes. Our 2020 Open House will
be held August 29 from 10-12 pm. Studio Address is 1200 North 415 West in Orem,
UT. We are in Studio A.

We're glad you are
interested in clogging with us and want to answer all your questions and
get you dancing!
Here's some basic things
about our studio along with a lot of the guidelines after that.
BEGINNING CLASSES
We normally have three times in the year
when we start new beginners. September (the new year), January, and
June. We can take as many as possibly in September and continue to add
classes as needed. In January, we usually fill one class and in June we
fill one class as well. These classes can fill fast, so it is best to
get on the list. Those that start in June, we try and get up to level
two in June and July (we take August off) and start them in September in
the higher level.
AGE STARTING
We normally start cloggers at age 4 in
our Minis class. It teaches basic movements and begins to introduce
clogging steps. Once cloggers are age 6, they move to our beginning
classes. Beginning classes are for ages 6-12. Dancers older than that
who want to start clogging usually get private lessons and start in a
higher class. Our Minis class of 4-5 year olds fills extremely fast and
caps at 10. Register early for it.
CLASS SIZES
We try and keep our classes to 8-12
dancers at a time. We have some classes as large as 16. Usually this is
a more advanced class or one that has several family and friends trying
to stay together.
TUITION
Our tuition is $35/month for a 45
minutes class. We meet once a week and most often meet 4 times a month.
However, we charge the full tuition every month as some months have less
than 4 and some will have more. Our policy is that a 9 month course is
$315 (9 times $35) and you can pay it all at once or $35 every month. If
you miss a week, we ask you to still pay full as it is a lot of tracking
to see who is there and adjust tuition. If you are gone most of the
month, talk to us and we can work something out. Our year goes September
through May with June and July being our fun summer workshops!
LOCATION
We are located at 1200 North 415 West
Studio A in Orem. (We are located on State Street and 1200 North, behind
the Autozone.)
REQUIREMENTS
Every dancer is asked to be to class
each week. And attend performances and competitions when asked. We
understand things come up, but the best dancers are those in class and
on stage. Each class (except our first years) compete twice a year (once
in March at Thanksgiving Point and once in May at Nationals at Lagoon).
Each class usually has 2 shows in December (we have a large parents show
around Christmas) and 2 shows in the spring including our huge Spring
Spectacular (we often have around 1,000 people attending! It's a lot of
fun! Each dancer is required to purchase a costume (see below) and a
studio T-shirt usually around $13-$17.
COSTUMES
Each class has a costume for the
entire year. Usually costs range from $30-$80 and they wear it to
all shows and competitions (often from 3-10 times a year!). And we
often use costumes for 2-3 years, so take care of it and the next
year you may get to use it again, or sell it to another team.
SHOES
We have lots of used shoes at the
studio for sell. You are welcome to come and see if any of them fit.
If you would like new shoes, you can buy them at Backstage Dancewear
in South Jordan (801-446-0192). We often suggest beginners get
WHITE canvas shoes (similar to what Keds used to look like - a leather or
canvas shoe) and put taps on them. Shoes can be found at Wal-mart,
Shopko, Target and taps are located at the Village Shoemaker at
State Street and Center Street in Orem. Tell them the Tucker's sent
you - He'll give you a great deal! You do not need shoes your first
day in class, but it really helps. We don't use the shoes that have
a strap on them anymore, we use only those with shoe laces.
PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is simple. Clogging is
fun and we love to perform, compete and have a great time! As much a
social activity as a talent development, clogging allows us to have a
great time while traveling, winning, and getting all dancers on stages
all around. We believe it is important to perform so dance is enjoyed
and to compete so dance is excelled. We also do all we can to make
clogging fun. Just come to one of our classes!
COMMUNICATION
Because we are a little busy at times
(we teach our studio, we run America On Stage - the competition circuit
here in the west) and run BYU's clogging program, we are often on the
run. E-mail is easiest to reach us. We send out a newsletter each month
with information required and a statement of all charges and payments on
it. You are welcome to call us, but E-mail is always easiest for us
(hence why you are reading this now!) We send out information by E-mail,
text messages, updates on our website, updates on facebook, and by notes
in class. Someway, we will get you the information!
TEACHERS
We have the best teachers. All of them
are National Champions and all very talented.
